They have a beveled side for a smooth slide under, and a gripping side to hold onto what you grabbing. They’ll never slip and accidentally pop open dropping the goods. The short ones are a perfect length. The longer ones are perfect for really hot cookinng, but also for helping to move hot coals for heat placement.

Good for medium size items, so far seems very durable, easy to clean and holds on to food well. hand grips are a bit small for guys with bigger hands, but you can bend them open as needed and make it easier to hold. Overall a good grilling tool for the money.
