   My initial impression without having grilled with them is: They are of high quality and have a commercial feel to them. My only complaints are: The spatula’s shaft is a little sharp on the edges below the handle. I will sand them smooth so I don’t cut myself if grabbing them by the shaft instead of the handle. Also, the metal ring that is used to hang the utensils is bendable and I can see the metal ring coming apart at the handle eventually. It would be nice if the metal ring was a full oval welded together so that it never comes apart. The tongs don’t spring open fully every time. The spring needs to be stronger. Also, the locking mechanism on the tongs should be spring loaded to avoid unintentional locking. Other than those minor issues, the set seems durable and of high quality. Edit: 5/31/2001 So after my first use of actually grilling with this set I have increased my rating. The spatula and fork are top notch. The tongs could use a design change. I first thought the spring was not strong enough. Now I think the spring is ok, but the locking mechanism gradually engages on the tongs when opening and closing. When this happens the tongs don’t open fully. They could fix this by putting a spring or some other method to keep the lock from engaging unintentionally.

   Fine set. I had actually bought a Weber set, and was so unimpressed with it I returned it and bought this instead. Very sturdy and I am happy so far. Dishwasher safe, and no rust.

   Overall, love this set – my small complaint is about any and all tongs – they do not grip well. The ends need some teeth, nothing huge, but teeth to fully grip things like chicken thighs where the skin easily slips off the thigh, similar for legs and breasts with the skin. Also, turning or picking up larger steaks was sketchy and the meat would slip out. So….. I modded mine – see the pix. Now I can grab a whole pork tenderloin and sling it around without any risk of losing a grip on it. Have not had ANYTHING slip out of the tongs grip since the mod. 🙂 Otherwise, solid set of BBQ tools for sure.

   The rubber/silicone grip on the tongs is always falling out. It very annoying and not really acceptable for a premium priced product. The remainder of the tools are good, but the tongs are the most often used hence 1 star.
