Twice the cooking space or plenty off-heat food parking. I often use covers while grilling on my campfire and this provides a large base without the cover hanging off the grill. Stores easily in my deck box!

Nice and sturdy, perfect fit, grates are perfect for cooking. Outstanding item! The only thing I would change on this design is to put the latch on the top. On the bottom it kind of gets in the way of you’re actually counting on flipping up the one side to add more wood.

Nice to put stuff on to keep hot, warm or whatever. Heavy duty, can still add wood to pit with hinged style. Not a spark arrestor by itself, but works good. Did not fade from heat.

The hinges on this unit are installed reversed from what they should be, so the two halves are locked in position essentially when the grill is on the fire pit. Because the unit opens downward instead of upward you CANNOT simply lift up one side to add more wood to the fire–one of the main reasons for buying a hinged unit. Also the sliding locks are misaligned so they will not engage the collar on the other half of grill AND the bars or rods of the locks tend to get entangled and stuck in the grill mesh. All in all, a poorly designed grill grate.
