   Well, if you were wondering if these are quality BBQ tools, or not. I’ve only hand-washed these and used them probably about 10 times over the past 7 months. They broke while I was simply taking a beautiful USDA Prime Ribeye off the grill. I don’t know if I was more sad about the tongs or the ribeye. Probably, the ribeye! Both were lost over poor craftsmanship. Disappointed, to say the least!! I must add, however, that when I notified Schmidt Bros. about the tongs, they immediately sent me a replacement – and cheerfully apologetic in the process! So, they do have outstanding customer service, if you need them, and they stood behind their warranty!

   These tools are very high quality and make a beautiful gift….but plan on having to wrap them without the included wood gift box. Like many other reviewers, my box arrived broken and without time to return and reorder fearing the same outcome, I kept them and just wrapped the tools loose in a gift bag. Not exactly the presentation I wanted, especially for the price but I’m sure they will still be appreciated nonetheless. Great tools but Schmidt Brothers fell short in the packaging department.

   These tools are expensive but they are also real good. I got a new BBQ and wanted new tools so I tossed my old wood handle tools and bought a flashy set with lights in the handle for about $20. They were awful! The metal handles got too hot to touch on the sun. The tongs were not flared at the ends so they didn’t work good and there was a lot of other stuff wrong. I decided to go to the other end of the spectrum and got these. The handles are wood so they don’t heat up in the sun. The handles are also triangle shaped so you have good control of the tool. Everything works, is well made (very well made) and is made out of thicker steel. These are the Rolls Royce of BBQ tools.
