   This automatic rotisserie kit was easy enugh to use and make grilling kebabs low effort. The adjustable width fits most grills, and the motor-driven skewers rotate evenly for perfect cooking. Setup is quick, and it runs on USB power or batteries, wo we use a powerbank.

   Whether you call them shish kebabs or shaslicks, the premise is the same. Get stick, skewer food, rotate over fire, cook and eat. And this, this, does it beautifully.

   My first time used I made 2 mistakes. 1, I made some of the food pieces slightly too big and they caught on each other. This is easily remedied, perhaps cutting a small piece of plastic as a food size template might work, or measuring to a knuckle joint or something. The second mistake was not taking the grill off the BBQ and the skewers were too far from the flame and food took a while to cook.

   On my next try I will be using my clay Hibachi burners, because, as a bonus, this rotisserie frame fits on them perfectly.

   The assembly was relatively easy, although I did find it slightly more complicated than it needed to be but it’s solid and doesn’t move around or wobble. Being stainless steel, the machine is easy to keep clean. Dissassembly to clean would be annoying but it lends itself well to immersion in hot soapy water because the motor can be detached using a simple thumb screw.

   The machine supplied takes 7 skewers at a time, with additional skewers provided. Oddly, I have 18 skewers, which means the 3rd batch is incomplete. 3 more skewers would have been a better match.

   Motor has USB B power connectivity and a case for 3 x AA batteries is provided. I used a power pack which might prove better for some. Clever thinking went into the power cable length, being ample enough to keep power sources well away from heat sources.

   With all of these things in mind, it is safe to say it is well designed, and by someone that uses them. All in all, a superb addition to anyone wanting shish kebabs cooked evenly and without fuss.

   And yes, I know I called it ‘Shush Kebabs’ in the title. Why? They’re so good, you won’t want to announce food is ready until you’ve eaten 3 or 4.

   At time of writing I have already ordered a second machine. With 2 Hibachi pots, and semi-frequent visit by family & friends, cooking 14 at a time will be the go.
