This is a well made and finished cast iron product, but unfortunately, the Kamado Joe ash drawer did not fit into the ash can without modifying the ash drawer. Most of the reviews were positive, so, others may not have had the problem that I did. I was not willing to modify the ash drawer, so I returned the product.

I have use this for 3 cooks.
I think it is a great upgrade from the original metal piece that held the ash removal tool.
I do NOT USE the original ash removal slider tool, with the new cast Iron Ash Can.
The old slider ash baskit DID NOT fit the new cast iron bottom slot.
But I didn’t like it anyway.
So, I just use it to collect the ash, remove the entire thing and dump it.
Obviously, I only do this the next day, when everything has cooled down.
Only concern is the durability of the metal wire handle.
Very heavy duty, and fit the bottom of a Kick Ash basket just fine.
So far, I really like it.

It fits well in the bottom of the smoker but the original ash basket does not slide into the slot at the bottom. I’m keeping it but disappointed in the last fact.

Extremely durable- very heavy cast iron. Unfortunately the original KJ Classic 2 drawer does not fit appropriately in the ash can (as advertised). Worthless. Returned.

I use my kamado joe classic 2 more than any other outdoor cooking tool. Unfortunately, my slide out ash drawer wouldn’t work with this ash can without modification. I’m not willing to modify something that has worked fine for years to accommodate an after market accessory.
